The Targeting Outstanding Project/Program Safety Awards (TOPS) Awards recognize exceptional projects and programs that demonstrate a strong commitment to construction safety. Winning a TOPS Award is both an honor and a mark of leadership in safeguarding people and worksites. By participating, member companies showcase proven best practices that raise the standard of safety across the entire industry.
Two Award/Recognition opportunities are available as part of the TOPS Awards program. These are Project Safety Excellence Awards and Safety Program Excellence Awards.
The application cycle for the 2026 TOPS Awards is open from May 18 through July 17. This program recognizes excellence in safety through two award categories:
Project Awards – Honors specific projects completed by member organizations, evaluated across four categories defined by total work hours during the program year.
Program Award – Recognizes a corporate-level safety program, including initiatives led by the company or in partnership with an external training provider, that demonstrates exemplary practices and measurable results.
Applications must be submitted by midnight (EST) on July 17. Complete details, including award criteria and application instructions, are outlined in the Program Guidelines.
The SCOAR Safety Excellence Awards Programs (TOPS) Panel (a subcommittee of the SCOAR Safety Committee) will review and evaluate all completed applications and make award recommendations based on a consensus decision by its members.
Any Awards Panel member whose company application is being reviewed will abstain from the review and voting process for that group of applicants.
