2026 Award Cycle Opens February 2 !

SCOAR’s Craft Professional of the Year Award recognizes a construction craft professional who excels in his or her field while demonstrating a commitment to safety, performance and productivity, leadership, and training/education.

Award recipients receive a $1,000 cash award and DEWALT tool package valued at $500 and are recognized at SCOAR’s Spring Meeting, and will be featured in The Voice Southeastern magazine, SCOAR’s annual publication.

Award Purpose

The purpose of SCOAR’s Craft Professional of the Year award is to recognize a construction craft professional who excels in his or her field while demonstrating a commitment to safety, performance and productivity, leadership, and training/education. The Award recipient will receive a $1,000 cash award and DEWALT tool package valued at $500 and are recognized at SCOAR’s Spring Meeting and featured in The Voice Southeastern magazine, SCOAR’s annual publication.

Nomination Process
  1. Visit the online portal at scoar.org/craft-professional-award to learn more and submit your nomination.
  2. Review the instructions and online nomination form before starting the nomination process to make sure the nominee meets the criteria and for important dates related to the award.
  3. Gather the documentation you plan to submit (i.e., .pdfs, images, graphs, etc.) to support your nomination.
  4. Complete all required questions on the online nomination form. Be sure to adhere to the word length parameters to ensure consideration.
  5. Submit your nomination by 5 p.m. on April 10, to be considered.
Eligibility Criteria
  1. Nominations must be submitted by a representative of a SCOAR member company in good standing. Self-nominations are not permitted.
  2. Nominees must be employees of a SCOAR member company in good standing.
  3. Nominations are open to craft positions, including construction foremen. Each nomination should be based on the role that the nominee was filling at the time the nomination is submitted. (Office and management personnel—including, but not limited to—project managers, engineers, sales representatives, estimators, and other non-field positions are not eligible for this award.)
  4. Nominees must be working on a project within SCOAR’s 12-state footprint at the time the nomination is submitted.
  5. All required items and supporting documentation must be submitted by the application deadline including the following: a. Current resume including the nominee’s
    • Education/Training
    • Work experience
    • Professional development
    • Applicable craft credentials, licenses, and/or awards earned within the last five years.
    b. Three letters of support
Selection Process

Nominations are reviewed and evaluated by a panel of industry professionals selected from SCOAR’s Workforce Development Committee, according to the criteria detailed in the Craft Professional of the Year Rubric. Eligible nominees will be judged on:

  1. Craft skills
  2. Job site performance
  3. Problem solving skills
  4. Safety performance
  5. Leadership
  6. Community/industry service
  7. Merit

Nominations must be submitted via SCOAR’s online application portal at https://scoar.org/craft-professional-award-application/ by 5 p.m. on April 10, 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Award Presentation Date

The award will be presented at SCOAR’s Spring Meeting on May 20, 2026.

Hints for Success
  1. Complete the nomination packet entirely including supporting documentation, conduct an internal review, and obtain necessary approvals (if applicable) prior to submission to the portal. Changes cannot be made after submission.
  2. Submit the completed nomination form and supporting documentation via the SCOAR’S online portal by 5 PM on April 10, 2026. Only nominations submitted through the portal will be considered for the award.
  3. Submit questions to staff@scoar.org.
